Στο Πρόγραμμα «Υποδομές Μεταφορών, Περιβάλλον και Αειφόρος Ανάπτυξη» 2014-20 το έργο «Επιχορήγηση της ΑΡΙΑΔΝΗ Α.Ε.Ε.Σ. για το Έργο Διασύνδεσης της Κρήτης με ΕΣΜΗΕ Φάση ΙΙ", 313,2 εκατ. ευρώ
In the Operational Program "Transport Infrastructures, Environment and Sustainable Development" 2014-20 of the Ministry of Development and Investments, by decision of the Special Secretary for the Management of ERDF and CS Programs, Mr. Giorgos Zervos, the Action "Grant to ARIADNI S.A.E. S., for the Project of Interconnection of Crete with ESMIE Phase II: 2x500MW Power Interconnection, Crete - Attica/1st Stage", with beneficiary ARIADNI MONOPROSOPI SPECIAL PURPOSE ANONYMOUS COMPANY (Electrical Interconnection of Crete Attica Ariadni Monoprosopi S.A.E. S. is a 100% subsidiary of ADMIE SA).
This important project of 313,273,796 euros (total public expenditure) concerns Phase II of the wider project of the interconnection of Crete with the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS) which includes the interconnection of Crete - Attica, which is implemented with 2 continuous circuits High Voltage Current (HVDC) 2*500MW, and includes 6 sub-projects, the main ones being the following:
-Study, supply and installation of the West Pole submarine cable system, the electrode stations and the underwater cables to connect the electrode stations,
-Study, procurement and installation of the East Pole underwater cable system,
-Study, supply and installation of underground cable systems for the interconnection of the Conversion Stations with the underwater cable systems of the east pole, the west pole and with the underwater cables to connect the electrode stations
-Study, supply and installation of two conversion stations and a substation for the direct current electrical interconnection between Crete and Attica (2x500MW).
Goals
The inclusion and implementation of the project pursues the following goals:
• Ensuring the smooth, reliable and more economical electricity supply of Crete compared to the current situation.
• Reduction of the burden caused to the environment of Crete by the existing oil production stations, which operate near residential and tourist areas, by gradually limiting their operation.
• Reduction of CO2 emissions, as the operation of the existing oil stations for electricity production will be replaced by ESMIE natural gas units.
• Increasing the possibility of exploiting the region's rich wind and solar potential.
• Improving the competitiveness of the tourism activity, which is also the most important economic sector of Crete as it contributes approximately 50% to the GDP of the island.
The electrical interconnection of Crete with Attica is currently the largest investment, both in terms of cost and technical complexity, for the transmission of electricity made in Greece with the aim of ending the "electrical isolation" of Crete from the electricity network of mainland Greece and the coverage of the increased future needs of the island. It should be noted that this project is the longest in length and depth under construction cable (underwater and underground) high voltage direct current interconnection in Greece.
Το προτεινόμενο έργο αφορά την Φάση ΙΙ του έργου που καθιστά εφικτή την τροφοδότηση σημαντικού μέρους του φορτίου του νησιού από το ΕΣΜΗΕ και σε συνδυασμό με τη Φάση Ι της διασύνδεσης της Κρήτης με την Πελοπόννησο οδηγεί στην πλήρη απεξάρτηση του νησιού από τις μονάδες παραγωγής με καύσιμο πετρέλαιο, που μέχρι σήμερα εξασφάλιζαν την ενεργειακή του επάρκεια.
Με τις δύο αυτές διασυνδέσεις επιτυγχάνεται ενεργειακή επάρκεια χωρίς τη χρήση των πετρελαϊκών αυτών μονάδων και επομένως με σημαντικά μειωμένο περιβαλλοντικό αποτύπωμα. Ταυτόχρονα, με την υποκατάσταση της πετρελαϊκής παραγωγής στην Κρήτη, περιορίζεται αισθητά το κόστος ηλεκτρικής τροφοδότησης του νησιού, επιτρέποντας την αποκλιμάκωση των χρεώσεων για Υπηρεσίες Κοινής Ωφέλειας στους λογαριασμούς των καταναλωτών όλης της χώρας.
